Membership to the TUGP gives the telecommunications user the following benefits:

  • Through massed purchasing power, TUGP is able to achieve standard terms and conditions for its user members' business relationship with common carriers, including major discounts in many types of telecommunication services.
     
  • TUGP enables its Corporate and Individual members to have the flexibility of dealing directly with senior management of carrier members through communication mechanisms previously agreed upon through MOUs.
      
  • Members can have a ready reach to international telecommunication expertise and information on new technologies through direct consultations and publications.
      
  • TUGP can assist members through resource sharing- e.g. common backup bearer circuits (international or domestic)
     
  • Through TUGP, users can present their views to the government, the media, and the service providers and carriers.

Telecommunication carriers can enjoy the following benefits:

  • Access to aggregate market information on corporate and individual usage, otherwise considered individual company confidential information;
     
  • By consolidating data on planned demand among users, TUGP can guide carriers to expand into new geographic and technical areas;

  • Support from TUGP for new initiatives and products that will bring long term benefit to the industry- e.g. phone metering.

TUGP can contribute the following benefits to the government:

  • TUGP serves as a monitoring group for the adherence of carriers to the Implementing Guidelines or R.A. 7925;
     
  • TUGP can give valuable inputs for policy formulation based on market studies and collected data which are not easily available;
     
  • A high level group will interface with the NTC and DOTC on such issues as legislative reforms, tariffs, and unfair practices of carriers.
